Change Icons
by Craig Ray
Your Microsoft Windows desktop most likely has several icons (or shortcuts) that either start different programs or open folders on your hard-drive or network. Windows will use a certain icon by default, but you can change those if you like. To do so, right-click the icon, and click on Properties. Click the tab labeled Shortcut, then click the button labeled Change Icon. From there you can pick whichever icon you like.

RATATOUILLE PASTA
Prep: 10 min. + standing
Cook: 15 min. 2 cups diced peeled eggplant
2 cups sliced zucchini
½ teaspoon salt
1 1/3 cups uncooked spiral pasta
1 cup sliced onion
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 can (14 ½ ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon dried basil
Dash pepper
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
Place eggplant and zucchini in a colander over a plate; sprinkle with salt and toss. Let stand for 30 minutes; rinse and drain well.
Cook pasta according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large nonstick skillet, sauté the eggplant, zucchini and onion in oil until tender. Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, garlic powder, basil and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cook, uncovered, over medium-low heat for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Drain pasta; place on an ovenproof platter. Top with vegetable mixture. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Broil 4-6 in. from the heat until cheese is melted. Yield: 3 servings.
TIP: When adding tomatoes to the Ratatouille Pasta, stir in a can of kidney beans (rinsed and rained). The low-fat legumes will give the dish a boost in protein and fiber.

I hope you had a Merry Christmas, Happy New year and Happy Chanukah. It has been a very challenging year for me. Many changes have occurred in my career, all for the best. It is the time of year that a lot of people make New Year resolutions. If you are one of them, write them down, make plans for change and mark down dates to review them. Use your Outlook to keep track of your progress.Try to learn something new, read a book, do CME on line, donate your time, do something you have never done. I did this last year and I am excited about this year. (This medicine from your doctor will not hurt or have adverse effects) |

Exercise Success
by John Muller
- If you've been sedentary for a long time, are overweight, have a high risk of coronary heart disease or some other chronic health problem, see your doctor for a medical evaluation before beginning a physical activity program.
- Choose activities that are fun, not exhausting. Add variety. Develop a repertoire of several activities that you can enjoy. That way, exercise will never seem boring or routine, variety is the spice of life.
- Find a convenient time and place to do activities. Try to make it a habit, but be flexible. If you miss an exercise opportunity, work activity into your day another way.
- Use music to keep you entertained.
- Surround yourself with supportive people. Decide what kind of support you need. Do you want them to remind you to exercise? Ask about your progress? Participate with you regularly or occasionally? Allow you time to exercise by yourself? Be understanding when you get up early to exercise? Spend time with the children while you exercise? Try not to ask you to change your exercise routine? Share your activity time with others. Make a date with a family member, friend or co-worker. Be an active role model for your children.
- Don't overdo it. Do low- to moderate-level activities, especially at first. You can slowly increase the duration and intensity of your activities as you become more fit. Over time, work up to exercising on most days of the week for 30-60 minutes.
- Keep a record of your activities. Reward yourself at special milestones. Nothing motivates like success!

FINANCIAL GENIUS! By David Eppers
Why Balance Your Checkbook?
If you know me or see me without knowing my title, you
know very well that I'm pretty much just a regular guy.
I love coming to work every day and I love going home
to my family. I enjoy my time off, my time with my kids,
dates with my wife and our time at church. When it comes
to work, it's important to me to do the best job possible.
I wanted to take a moment to invite you to fall in love with the value of a financial report, because every month you receive several and they can be a great resource to you. If you're like most people, your bank account statement, your bills, and your credit card statement (if you have one) are usually not your favorite piece of mail! Even savings and/or investment account summaries aren't always welcomed by people who don't understand them, or wish they had more.
But I want to encourage you that every time a report comes, someone has been your "personal accountant" to tell you where you stand. And that's important. Because that's reality. In the coming months, I want to share a few principles I know about how to make those reports look more like what you want them to say. Do you want your debt to go down? Do you want your savings to go up? Do you want an improved credit rating? Do you want more freedom and less stress when it comes to money?
I hope so. Come visit my column in each newsletter and let's take some smart steps together. And it starts by reading the reports that are provided for you! See you next month.

Why I’m a Carespring
Caregiver, 20 years later! Janet Garcia, LPN
I remember the first time I walked into Eastgate Care Health Care Center like it was yesterday. The beautiful décor and the friendly faces. The resident population at that time was sparse yet...the obvious future success was evident in each and every small detail.
I had known then that I, without a doubt, I wanted to be a part of this new team.
So when I received the call offering me the very first full time 11-7 Charge Nurse position I was honored and not only that...they were going to pay me $7.50 (which was great LPN Wages back then).
I undoubtedly could write endless pages of memories about all the many successes and those occasional failures that made everyone stronger. The laughter and the tears that come from caring for all the precious residents that remain forever etched in my heart and mind. All the changes that have occurred were changes made in the name of progress.
But yet... 20 years later one man's vision remains unchanged.
Thanks Barry for making such a difference in so many resident's lives.
Congratulations, I can't believe it's almost been 20 years!

Call Offs! Why so Many? Why not extra Money instead? by Debbie Berling Sometimes I am at loss at to why so
many team members call off. I am sure that somewhere
there is a book that markets “101 Ways to Call Off”.
If there isn’t I could certainly list the reasons I
have heard and write it myself. I have listened to so
many stories that I never would have thought of. Our
attendance point system is a great system. Some may
not realize how great. Our system takes away the excuse
and rewards those with good attendance.
I have had people
interview with me that say they were just terminated
for calling off 2 or 3 times and they were actually
very sick. Our system protects our team members and
the residents. You control your future with our system.
You get paid if you are not late, tardy or do not call
off or leave early. If you do call off consistently
your points will add up and you will receive a warning.
Then, if continued, you may be terminated. Nobody should
be surprised if they are terminated for call offs.
Good Choice , Poor Choice, Your Choice. You control it. You can make extra money each year (up to 10 days) or get no extra money at all. Review the policy in your Team Member Manual. Our call off program can put cash in your hands.
If you have any questions about our Attendance and Health Pay programs, see your supervisor. Get the knowledge!
